Hippocrates is often considered the father of modern medicine in the west. I recently came across some of his writing on-line at:
http://classics.mit.edu/Browse/browse-Hippocrates.html
It is interesting read.
In the section on Air Water and Places some interesting parallels are made with Ayurvedic thought.
A good read for anyone interested in health and healing.

An article from Ayurveda for You describes the results from some research done with Yoga and Pranayama (breath) to help with the managements of diabetes type 2.
Diabetes poses a major health problem globally and is one of the top five leading causes of death in most developed countries. A substantial body of evidence suggests that it could reach epidemic proportions particularly in developing and newly industrialized countries.
Indeed, by the year 2025, three-quarters of the world’s 300 million adults with diabetes will be in developing countries and almost a third in India and China alone.

Deepak has masterfully crafted this book, put into a language we can all understand many of the spiritual principles we find in ayurveda and the new discoveries of science in today’s world. This is a good read. I loved it. Five stars.
